Din totdeauna liderii stangii (impreuna cu retardatii lor suporteri) s-au pretins drept exclusivi detinatori ai unor foarte dezirabile trasaturi umane: compasiune, moralitate, superioritate intelectuala, etc.

Cat de reale sunt asemenea pretentii, se poate observa foarte bine din articolul de mai jos. Articolul e deprimant (cel putin eu asa il consider), dar ofera o imagine pe cat de necrutatoare pe atat de documentata a "caracterului" si "logicii" unui liberal pur sange.

BARACK OBAMA has emerged as a classic example of charismatic leadership — a figure upon whom others project their own hopes and desires. The resulting emotional intensity adds greatly to the more conventional strengths of the well-organized Obama campaign, and it has certainly sufficed to overcome the formidable initial advantages of Senator Hillary Clinton.
One danger of such charisma, however, is that it can evoke unrealistic hopes of what a candidate could actually accomplish in office regardless of his own personal abilities. Case in point is the oft-made claim that an Obama presidency would be welcomed by the Muslim world.
This idea often goes hand in hand with the altogether more plausible argument that Mr. Obama’s election would raise America’s esteem in Africa — indeed, he already arouses much enthusiasm in his father’s native Kenya and to a degree elsewhere on the continent.
But it is a mistake to conflate his African identity with his Muslim heritage. Senator Obama is half African by birth and Africans can understandably identify with him. In Islam, however, there is no such thing as a half-Muslim. Like all monotheistic religions, Islam is an exclusive faith.
As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood. It makes no difference that, as Senator Obama has written, his father said he renounced his religion. Likewise, under Muslim law based on the Koran his mother’s Christian background is irrelevant.
Of course, as most Americans understand it, Senator Obama is not a Muslim. He chose to become a Christian, and indeed has written convincingly to explain how he arrived at his choice and how important his Christian faith is to him.
His conversion, however, was a crime in Muslim eyes; it is “irtidad” or “ridda,” usually translated from the Arabic as “apostasy,” but with connotations of rebellion and treason. Indeed, it is the worst of all crimes that a Muslim can commit, worse than murder (which the victim’s family may choose to forgive).
With few exceptions, the jurists of all Sunni and Shiite schools prescribe execution for all adults who leave the faith not under duress; the recommended punishment is beheading at the hands of a cleric, although in recent years there have been both stonings and hangings. (Some may point to cases in which lesser punishments were ordered — as with some Egyptian intellectuals who have been punished for writings that were construed as apostasy — but those were really instances of supposed heresy, not explicitly declared apostasy as in Senator Obama’s case.)
It is true that the criminal codes in most Muslim countries do not mandate execution for apostasy (although a law doing exactly that is pending before Iran’s Parliament and in two Malaysian states). But as a practical matter, in very few Islamic countries do the governments have sufficient authority to resist demands for the punishment of apostates at the hands of religious authorities.
For example, in Iran in 1994 the intervention of Pope John Paul II and others won a Christian convert a last-minute reprieve, but the man was abducted and killed shortly after his release. Likewise, in 2006 in Afghanistan, a Christian convert had to be declared insane to prevent his execution, and he was still forced to flee to Italy.
Because no government is likely to allow the prosecution of a President Obama — not even those of Iran and Saudi Arabia, the only two countries where Islamic religious courts dominate over secular law — another provision of Muslim law is perhaps more relevant: it prohibits punishment for any Muslim who kills any apostate, and effectively prohibits interference with such a killing.
At the very least, that would complicate the security planning of state visits by President Obama to Muslim countries, because the very act of protecting him would be sinful for Islamic security guards. More broadly, most citizens of the Islamic world would be horrified by the fact of Senator Obama’s conversion to Christianity once it became widely known — as it would, no doubt, should he win the White House. This would compromise the ability of governments in Muslim nations to cooperate with the United States in the fight against terrorism, as well as American efforts to export democracy and human rights abroad.
That an Obama presidency would cause such complications in our dealings with the Islamic world is not likely to be a major factor with American voters, and the implication is not that it should be. But of all the well-meaning desires projected on Senator Obama, the hope that he would decisively improve relations with the world’s Muslims is the least realistic.

He wants heavy fines on chefs who choose exotic fruit and vegetables flown in from around the world.The poor little darling "hates" – or so he tells us - being served asparagus in December or Kenyan strawberries in mid-winter, a situation he claims is "spiralling out of control." He wants to see food home grown. "It's a chef's job to ensure everything is locally sourced and, more importantly, when they haven't got it, take it off the menu," he declares.Oddly, it is the Reuters blog that makes the obvious point. Citing the Department for International Development, it asks: what about the farmers in some of the poorest countries in the world who are producing the food for our supermarkets? That trade is vital to their wellbeing, with a million farmers and their families in Africa depending on it.

The BBC Bows Down to Climate Change

One of the most consistent and thorough journalists in the United Kingdom, the Daily Telegraph’s Christopher Booker, recently published an astonishing piece on the BBC and Global Warming (it's the right link - the story's about half way down the page).

In short, it reveals that on 4 April a BBC journalist named Roger Harrabin posted a story on BBC Website, in which (citing the World Meteorological Organisation) he correctly pointed out the twin facts that world temperatures have not continued to rise in the past 10 years, and that this year they will fall to a level markedly below the average of the past two decades.

He was promptly emailed by Jo Abbess of “The Campaign Against Climate Change” demanding that he "correct" his item. In their e-mail exchange, she said it was "highly irresponsible to play into the hands of the sceptics," to "even hint that the Earth is cooling down again." She told him that this was not "a matter of debate" and that, unless he changed his item, "I would have to conclude that you are insufficiently educated to be able to know when you have been psychologically manipulated." She threatened to expose him by spreading his replies across the internet.

Una din temele de baza din cartile si articolele lui Ann Coulter este cum democratii si MSM (Main Stream Media) ii prezinta pe republicani (in special pe republicanul zilei) drept dumb. Reagan's proposal is the dumbest I ever heard of. Eisenhower was dumb. Bush is dumb, si cum, pe de alta parte, nici un democrat nu este mai prejos decit premiul Nobel, fapt argumentat cu enunturi profunde de genul Gore
is smart.

Cronologia este urmatoarea: Dupa o pregatire de artilerie de vreo saptamina si ceva, in care anunta ca el e chitit sa faca ceea ce MSM ar trebui sa faca, si anume sa afle cine este cu adevarat candidatul Obama, Hannity de la Fox arunca bomba: un interviu cu Jeremiah Wright (luat acum un an, in martie 2007 - voi reveni), impreuna cu fragmentele din predicile lui Wright pe care de-acuma le stie toata lumea. Chestia l-a fortat pe Obama sa iasa pe Fox, in interviul de mai jos:

ca sa explice situatia. Ca tabara lui Obama era in plina deruta a fost clar din faptul ca cu citeva ore inainte refuzase orice comentariu sau interviu pe tema.

Punctul central al interviului de mai sus este ca Obama declara ca n-a fost prezent la acele predici si ca n-a avut nici o idee de declaratiile lui Wright. Asta a fost o minciuna evidenta. Cum zice aceeasi Ann Coulter, intr-o propozitie si mai simpla, Liberals lie. Intr-un singur minut Obama, din Dumnezeul Schimbarii si al Sperantei s-a aratat a fi un politician mediocru care, ca sa iasa dintr-o situatie neplacuta, alege din instinct calea cea mai simpla: minte. Minciuna lui Obama este accesibila si clara pentru omul de rind fara nici o demonstratie. Multi dintre cei care, luati de val, l-au votat in primare s-au simtit prost auzind-o, incercindu-i sentimentul neplacut ca au fost cam fraieri (si fraieriti!). Pe multi i-a incercat, probabil, regretul.

Cu toate ca minciuna nu mai avea nevoie de nici o demonstratie, "analistii" au demonstrat-o in fel si chip. Cunoasteti: "de 20 de ani membru al bisericii cu pricina", "Wright l-a cununat", "Wright i-a botezat copiii", "Wright i-a fost mentor", etc. Hannity, in special, a venit cu o explicatie care, dupa mine, i-a oferit lui Obama o ocazie nesperata sa iasa cu bine din situatie, dar pe care acesta a ratat-o, cum se zice in fotbal, fenomenal.

Argumentul lui Hannity este: Obama stia ce predica pastorul pentru
ca in februarie 2007 l-a dez-invitat de la nu'sh ce adunare si,
de atunci s-a tinut departe de el. Vedeti, zice Hannity, asta arata ca Obama stia ca declaratiile pastorului sint "controversate".

Argumentul e bun, dar numai dupa minciuna lui Obama! Inainte de interviul de mai sus, asta nu era argumentul lui Hannity, ci era argumentul lui Obama!.

Ce ar fi trebuit Obama sa faca in interviu? Unu: sa nu minta. Apoi: la intrebarea daca stia de declaratii ar fi trebuit sa raspunda ca da. La intrebarea daca s-a distantat, ar fi trebuit sa raspunda ca da, folosind tocmai argumentul pe care Hannity il folosea impotriva lui. Da,
m-am distantat, iar dovada este ca l-am dez-invitat atunci. L-am dez-invitat pentru ca nu-mi placeau declaratiile lui. Nu m-am apropiat de el pe toata durata campaniei. I-am si spus-o! I-am spus ca
declaratiile lui sint absurde! (mi se pare ca chiar exista asa ceva, on the record). Ca la jiu-jitsu: te folosesti de greutatea adversarului ca sa-l rastorni.

Daca ar fi raspuns asa, nici un argument ulterior n-ar mai fi contat. A fost la biseria aia 20 de ani? Si ce daca, orice om se duce la o biserica! Daca te duci la biserica nu inseamna ca si crezi ce zice popa (cu atit mai mult un liberal! :-)). L-a cununat Wright? Pai cine voiati sa ma cunune, dascalul? Si asa mai departe.

(Evident ca asta n-ar fi schimbat cu nimic fondul, care este ca biserica aia ii reflecta "valorile" si lui, si nevesti-sii. Insa, daca ar fi fost "franc" in chestia asta, fondul ar fi fost mult mai greu chiar de pus in discutie. Nu mai vorbesc de argumentat si de demonstrat.)

Cum o fi putut sa rateze ocazia nesperata pe care i-a oferit-o Hannity? De ce naiba o fi mintit? Raspunsul nu poate fi decit unul. Atit el cit si echipa lui sint slabi, mediocri, dumb. Sint imbibati de acel sentiment de entitlement, nu isi pot imagina ca cineva ar putea sa-i atace (asa au fost "crescuti" de MSM). Pusi sub presiune, clacheaza. Viitor de aur tara noastra are... :-))

De doua zile incoace nu incetez sa ma minunez: Ce slab a fost! Ce slab! Slab! Slab! Slab!

Un cuvint despre Hannity si "bomba" lui. Interviul cu Wright a fost luat in martie 2007 si difuzat in martie 2008. De ce nu a fost difuzat in martie 2007? Raspunsul este simplu: pentru ca nu avea nici o relevanta atunci. Obama era doar un candidat oarecare, cu sanse mici, si nimeni nu avea de unde sa stie ca dupa un an va fi in fruntea unei curse in care au ramas doar doi candidati.

De ce a fost interviul difuzat in martie 2008? La intrebarea asta este mai greu de raspuns. "Bomba" ar fi trebuit pastrata pentru la toamna, in eventualitatea ca Obama ar fi cistigat nominarea democrata. Daca nominarea ar fi cistigat-o Clinton, atunci toata afacerea ar fi devenit la fel de irelevanta ca in martie 2007. N-ar mai fi avut nici un rost aruncarea ei pe piata. In martie 2008, "bomba" nu ajuta decit o singura persoana: pe Hillary Clinton.

Sa fi fost Hannity "inteles" cu Clinton? Absurd! :-)) Sa-i fi fost teama sa nu piarda scoop-ul? Sint sigur ca toata MSM era la curent atit cu interviul lui din 2007, cit si cu intreaga poveste. Insa nimeni n-ar fi scos-o. Nimeni in afara de el. Nimeni nu i-ar fi luat-o inainte... :-))

In orice caz, Hannity i-a oferit lui Obama o sansa colosala! Si probabil ca nici macar nu realizeaza asta. Nici el, nici Obama!

P.S.: Intimplarea a facut ca in timp ce scriam asta, Obama sa-si tina speech-ul. Chestia importanta pe care am auzit-o a fost ca da, stiam ce zicea Wright in biserica. Yeah, sure! O saptamina de-acum incolo toata MSM va defila cu asta ca dovada a sinceritatii lui Obama, iar ce a zis pe Fox nu va mai conta.

What in the world are advisers to both Senators Obama and Clinton doing in Syria in the middle of a presidential campaign — and why are the two campaigns so unforthcoming about the details of the visits? The same week that a terrorist mastermind harbored by the Baathist regime in Damascus was assassinated by a car bomb, both one of Mr. Obama’s foreign policy counselors, Zbigniew Brzezinski, a long-time critic of Israel, and one of Mrs. Clinton’s national finance chairs, Hassan Nemazee, were meeting with President Assad.

Introducere: Pe vremea cand John Kerry candida pentru presedentie (si va aduceti aminte ca John McCain a fost gata-gata sa-i devina running mate) eram intr-o zi in drum spre Reno si, prin munti fiind, nu mai reuseam sa prind nici un post de radio pe ultrascurte, asa ca am trecut pe AM si astfel l-am ascultat pentru prima data pe Rush Limbaugh. S-a intamplat. Si nici un republican bine intentionat n-a incercat sa-l calmeze sau sa-i inchida gura lui Limbaugh, pentru ca John Kerry nu devenise liderul republicanilor, ci al democratilor, so it was OK.

Whoa... what a firestorm. At the insistence of many TTPers, last week's How the Clintons Will Destroy John McCain was made a free access article and promptly went viral over the Internet, becoming explosively controversial.

Sure, I would vote for McCain in November if it comes down to it. But unless he can effectively counter the coming massive assault on his massive vulnerabilities, votes for him will be of no use.

Vreau sa va atrag atentia asupra uneia dintre cele mai bune carti (daca nu cea mai buna) pe care am citit-o in 2007. Cartea este o "dare de seama" a carierei de public servant a lui Bolton, incepind cu episoade din timpul administratiei Reagan, perioada de wandering in the wilderness din anii lui Clinton, si cu accentul principal pe activitatea in functia de T (subsecretar de stat responsabil cu arms control) la State sub Powell si, mai ales, cu activitatea de USUN (ambasador la UN) sub Rice, din al doilea mandat Bush.


Nu vreau sa intru in prea multe amanunte, cartea este obligatorie pentru cei ce vor sa inteleaga cum merg the foreing affairs in US in particular, UN si restul lumii in general. Ni se ofera o radiografie patrunzatoare a birocratiei entrenched la State, cum crede ea, birocratia, ca le stie mai bine decit reprezentantii politici alesi si cum reuseste sa-i "cirmeasca" pe acestia de la policy-urile cu care initial plecasera. Aflam in detaliu cum (nu) merg lucrurile la UN. Bolton reuseste sa faca dintr-un subiect relativ arid si plicticos o lectura de zile mari, plina de invataminte si de fun.

CAIRO — The United States has resumed contacts with Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood despite Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s 2005 commitment not to “engage” with the banned group — a move that could strain relations with President Hosni Mubarak’s government.
U.S. Embassy officials said they are acting in conformity with a worldwide policy of dealing with political parties that are represented in their national parliaments. Muslim Brotherhood members can only run for Egypt’s parliament as independents, and U.S. officials say they have met them only in that capacity.
“Our rare contacts with the nominally independent members of parliament have occurred only in the full light of day, with many other Egyptians present, including members from the ruling National Democratic Party,” said Francis J. Ricciardone, the U.S. ambassador to Egypt.
Asked whether the dealings were approved by Miss Rice, who ruled out such contacts in June 2005, Mr. Ricciardone said: “Of course, we report fully to Washington on these contacts.”

LAHORE: Muslim scientists have made all discoveries of the current age, said University of Columbia’s Arabic and Islamic Studies prof George Saliba at a seminar at the Government College University (GCU) on Monday. The seminar, titled The Problems of Historiography of Islamic Science, was held at Fazl-e-Hussain Hall. Saliba gave a critique of the standard classical accounts of the rise of Islamic science. He detailed problems in the accounts and explained alternative historiography that described the rise of an Islamic scientific tradition as a result of social and political conditions within the nascent Islamic empire. He said Muslim philosophy was the impetus behind Islamic science that had contributed to various disciplines including botany, zoology, algebra, trigonometry, physics, chemistry, astronomy, physics, chemistry, physiology and mathematics in the pre-industrial era. He said the use of decimal fractions was not a Western invention and that it was discovered by a Muslim scientist. He said the binary system, on which the computer was based, was also invented by a Muslim scientist. He said Arab/Islamic science was not an intermediary between Greek science and European science, but was rather the Renaissance that integrated the Islamic science with European science.
